When I found out that there was going to be a Batman gallery on the site, I thought of the terrible “Robots in Movies” gallery we did (no Metropolis! no Terminator!) and immediately poached it for my own. The result:
My enthusiasm for a good mustache, particularly a good historical mustache, got out of control at work last night when we did a famous mustache gallery. All I know is that I got Duchamp on the Daily News website…
Lastly, I did a review of the new video game, Hellboy: The Science of Evil. Not only do I wax rhapsodic about it, I take cheap pot-shots at my friends. It’s only a matter of time before they take my writing privileges away.
Appearing exclusively on the NY Daily News website is my profile of Mike Mignola, creator of Hellboy. He was a nice fellow, though I’m pretty sure he left the interview doubting that I was really a journalist. Hell, so did I.
Today was Hellboy Day for the Daily News. I have a “With” credit on Ethan Sacks’ two-page spread on Hellboy II: The Golden Army which ran in today’s paper (you should buy it). You can also see it online if you click the pic.
My fellow News geek Ethan Sacks interviewed Hellboy director Guillermo del Toro during the NY ComicCon. At one point, del Toro revealed that Hellboy creator Mike Mignola couldn’t help but laugh hysterically at the mere mention of the words ‘monkey’ and ‘pants.’ Further, he suggested that something involving said words should be my lead off question in my Mignola interview the next day.
Predictably, Mignola had no idea what I was talking about. “It’s the third day of a big comic convention. I used up all my giggles by Friday night.”
